Stylized Scythian akinak sword. It was used by the Scythians in the 1st millennium BC. This type of sword is also known among the Persians, Medes and others. Unlike many cavalry swords, it had good piercing qualities, but it was also used as a chopping weapon. It is an element of the cultural Scythian “triad” that was part of the burial ceremony for Scythian warriors – it is a mandatory sword-akinak, horse equipment, as well as the animal style of jewelry.
